In Memory of Vince Stephens

18th Oct 19

It is with great sadness that I advise our Environmental Health Family that our beloved Vince Stephens passed away on Tuesday 15 October after a 10 month battle with cancer.

We remember Vince as a passionate mentor, leader, environmental health professional and friend. Vince has been in environmental health for over 30 years starting his career as a cadet with Queensland Health, followed by a lengthy career in a large regional council and then launching and running his own consultancy business which supported several rural and regional councils.

Vince served as an EHA (QLD) INC board member from 2008 until Tuesday. He led EHA (QLD) INC. for 5 years as president and EHA National for 2 years. Vince’s service to Environmental Health encompassed a passion for promoting and advocating for our profession. He recognised the importance of regional groups, continuous professional development and lifelong learning.

Vince imparted his skills and knowledge to others through facilitation of many EHA training programs, as a guest and speaker at a number of international conferences, delivering engaging presentations at State and National conferences, and through mentoring and coaching of student and developing EHOs.

Vince Stephens is renowned locally, nationally and internationally for his integrity, work ethic and high achievement in the environmental health profession.
