Summary Information

Offensive trades include premises that are likely to cause a nuisance by the emission of noise, odour and dust; these are provided in Schedule 2 of the Health Act 1911. Local government authorities are responsible for registering offensive trades and due consideration should be granted to the location of these businesses and the impact on surrounding occupants. Inspections of offensive trades are conducted to ensure that they are operated in such a way to minimise any potential nuisances and to protect public health.
