Summary Information

The level of involvement in health promotion will depend on the strategic plan of the Local Government however with the introduction of the Public Health Act forecast and the requirement to develop Public Health Plans this is an area that must be considered by EHO’s. A range of existing health promotion activities that Local Governments undertake include; restrictions on tobacco smoking in public places, provision of shade sails and playgrounds, food safety training, immunisation activities, physical activity programs, health promotion advocacy and many more initiatives.
