Summary Information

The food sampling program is coordinated by the Local Health Authorities Analytic Committee (LHAAC) and is divided into three main components; coordinated sampling programs, non-compliance sampling and general local sampling. Each component is allocated a number of units at the beginning of the financial year.

For complaints part of the product may be missing in which case send all that is submitted by the complainant, take photographs of the product prior to sending off for analysis.

Non-legal sampling may be first conducted where only one portion of the product is purchased; however should an unsatisfactory result be obtained legal sampling may then be initiated. This requires three portions of the product to be purchased; one goes to the laboratory, one stays with the proprietor and the other is retained in the freezer by the LGA.

Samples can either be sent to the ChemCentre or to Agrifood Technology.
